Vicky x Tagnan 2014 Litter
We first saw a picture of Tagnan, GCh Sanyati's D'Tagnan of Ridglea CGC, RN, RE, CD, in The Ridgeback Magazine in 2012. At first glance I thought he would be a good match for Vicky. They both have the same qualities that I love about Vicky. We tried breeding Vicky to Tagnan in 2013. That breeding did not take so February 2014 we did a repeat breeding. Vicky was confirmed pregnant via ultrasound today. The vet saw 3-5 puppies.
April 12, 2014 puppy has arrived!
Vicky had to go in for an emergency c-section today. She was carrying two puppies but the first one got stuck in the horn of the uterus and passed away before we could get to her. She was a beautiful ridged puppy that will be missed. Her sister we are naming Leia and will be one spoiled singleton puppy!
Being a singleton made it easier for us to get her out of the house and do some traveling in the RV with all our other dogs.. At around 5 weeks of age we all went to the coursing field. She got to meet a bunch of people and hear lots of different sounds. During that trip the fairground were also hosting a WWII reenactment. She heard gun shots, cannon fire and all sorts of stuff. She did not bat an eye. The next weekend we went to a dog show and again she got to meet new people. The next weekend we all made the trip down to Illinois to visit friends and family. All that prepared her for what was coming next and her forever home.
Leia now Azize's Princess Levia
At 5 weeks of age we had decided who would be getting Leia and what her life would be like when grown. We would be donating her to Sharolyn who would be Levia owner and trainer. Sharolyn volunteers and trains dogs to become Search and Rescue (SAR) dogs. Levia would train to be a tracking dog. With that we asked Sharolyn what we could do at the house to help get Levia going. |
Here is Levia in her new home. Learning all about what it takes to become a SAR dog.
