Conformation
There are several different clubs/organizations that hold conformation dog shows. The ones that we have participated in are the AKC, the UKC and the IABCA. All three have different styles of judging and different but similar breed standards. For each breed, there is a breed standard which is a word description of the perfect dog of that breed. Standards describe the mental and physical characteristics that allow each breed to perform the function for which they were originated. The standard describes the dog's looks, movement and temperament. Breeders involved with each breed are attempting to produce a dog that most closely conforms to the breed standard. Approved judges examine the dogs and place them in accordance to how close each dog compares with their mental image of the "perfect" dog as described in the breed's official standard.
We put AKC and UKC Championships on all of our dogs. Libby also earned an International Championship. Vicky was our first home bred champion. Unlike her momma, Libby, she was just a natural in the ring. At her 2nd show ever at just over 6 months old the judge stated that she was so well trained and comfortable in the ring that she must have been doing it for a while. She finished her AKC Ch before she turned 1 year old. She was in the top 10 for all ridgebacks girls competing in AKC in 2011 and she won Winners Bitch and an Award of Merit at the Canadian National Specialty in 2012.
To date Valor is our most accomplished conformation dog that we have ever bred and owned. He was Top 25 in the breed 2 years in a row (2014 and 2015). He knew when the judge pointed at him for the win and loved every minute of it.

Teri enjoys showing dogs and has even gotten Wayne to show a few times. Wayne and Vicky together earned Vicky's highest Group placement, a Group 2. Over the years Teri has been in the Top 10 for both RRCUS Owner Handler and the AKC National Owner Handled Series for numerous times.
